Tattoo Artists Help Breast Cancer Survivors By Covering Their Scars With Beautiful Tattoos

Mastectomy tattoos are a blossoming trend among breast cancer survivors. Mastectomies, or surgical removals of all or part of a breast “can be” life-saving procedures for those at risk of or suffering from developing breast cancer. And what the tattoo does is cover up the scars the procedure leaves behind. For some women, the needle goes beyond skin deep – because tattooing post-mastectomy breasts has become a powerful way to reclaim what was lost.

A website called P.Ink has launched The P.Ink (Personal Ink) Project which helps tattoo artists connect with breast cancer survivors who want to tattoo their mastectomy scars.

One of the artists who have joined the project is David Allen, and he had inspiring things to say about the process; “I’ll never forget it. What was clinical became beautiful again… we turned sterile into sensual. We took back control.”, he wrote to MyModernMet.
