Before you even contemplate this is a reasonable suggestion for eliminating coronavirus, we must insist that it is not!

What President Donald Trump suggested in his own words last week was quite astonishing for a leader in his position and moreover his responsibility for US citizens.

President Trump probably spends every press briefing accusing CNN and others as fake news, but what happened last week was just beyond unbelievable.

It was last Thursday that during his daily press briefing with journalists at The White House, President Trump said: “I see the disinfectant where it knocks it out in a minute. One minute… And is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside or almost a cleaning?

It was not long before many concerned citizens called the various health hotlines across the 50 States asking whether this ‘solution’ is true and how they go about administrating the injection, according to Michigan and Maryland governors.

They often say that a good leader is open to new ideas, but the disinfectant injection idea suggested by Mr. Trump is not going to be remembered as a highlight during his first and perhaps last term in office.

Following growing criticism, President Trump later said that these remarks were made sarcastically.

But one must question whether making such remarks is helpful to the response needed from the leader of the US which is enduring by far the largest number of confirmed coronavirus deaths of any country, to date. The pandemic is no laughing matter.

We shall wait and see whether his popularity will slump or soar as a result of his unfiltered approach to leadership.
