How To Booster Your Signal Effectively

If you are in a place where mobile communication is practically dead, there are interruptions of telephone conversations and data transfer sessions, periodic “undying” or loss of cellular network – your option is a cell phone booster. 3 mobile phone signal booster can help you. With its help, you can achieve a quality signal as voice and data transmission in all standards.

Uctel will tell you about other ways in this article.

Cellular Amplifiers

Cellular amplifiers are designed to provide a stronger signal regardless of the operator and its operating standards.

These devices are distinguished by output power, operating frequency range, bandwidth, and amplification.

The first and last indicators should be carefully selected based on their coverage area and the number of premises.

Cellular attenuation is a frequent phenomenon caused by obstacles that occur in the path of radio signal propagation. Its strength is affected by:

  • The architecture of the structure;
  • Terrain;
  • The remoteness of a mobile device from the operator’s station.
  • As a result of a weak signal, calls can be dropped and conversations become intermittent.

Classification of cellular amplifiers

Cellular communication amplifiers can be classified according to the following parameters:

1) by power:

  • small;
  • medium;
  • high performance.

2) by place of installation:

  • indoor (indoors itself);
  • outdoor (outdoors).

3) by application:

  • stationary;
  • portable (automobile).

4) according to the method of amplification:

  • active – installation of repeaters, and boosters;
  • passive – installation of a repeater or antennas is assumed;
  • other likely ways (GSM plates).

5) according to the communication standard:

  • GSM;
  • DCS;
  • CDMA;
  • 3G;
  • 4G.

It is, the use of GSM repeaters is the main means of providing mobile communications on the premises that are underground.

The peculiarity of using complex radio-electronic devices lies in the ability to reduce the level of radiation of subscriber cell phones accordingly:

  • the index of negative impact on the human body is reduced;
  • the time frame of operation of the device without recharging increases;
  • there is a reduction in the pickup of other radio-electronic systems.

GSM repeater is a bidirectional amplifier, which connects donor and service antennas. Additionally, it performs correction of the signal waveform. The scheme of such an amplifier is shown below:

The principle of operation of cellular amplifiers

The donor unit receives the signals that come from the base station. The device then transports them in an amplified format to the service installation. The unit then transmits the signals directly to the subscriber’s cell phone. The response is received by the service antenna, amplified by the repeater, and transported by the donor installation to the base station.

For the proper functioning of the device, it is necessary to have good electromagnetic isolation between the antennas. Only in this way, the probability of self-excitation of the amplifiers is excluded.

Cellular amplifiers (repeater) – a complex radio technical device through which you can make a weak signal from the operator more powerful.

The amplification system includes:

  • an external antenna;
  • repeater itself;
  • internal antenna.

Cellular amplifiers (repeaters) can be installed almost anywhere where there are problems with cell phone reception. When selecting, it is important to focus on the limitations of the signal reception provided. The limits are prescribed in the range of 35-40 km from the base station of the service provider.

Repeater and signal amplifier. Are the concepts identical or not?

Cellular operators are actively developing mobile networks and expanding their coverage both in populated areas and sparsely populated areas. Unfortunately, some subscribers are still faced with a low level of connection: calls are dropped, the low speed of mobile Internet does not allow them to use of the usual services, and sometimes smartphones even show the icon “no network”. To solve these problems, you need to strengthen the cellular signal.

When they talk about enhancing mobile communications, they often mention two terms – “repeater” and “signal booster”. Can we consider that they are the same thing? If not, what is the difference?

A repeater is typically called a cellular signal repeater, simply put – a repeater. This expresses the basic principle of the device, which receives weakened radio waves from the street, increases their power, and then radiates (repeats) inside the room. Thus, the repeater is an active amplifier, that is, a device that uses electrical energy to increase the power of the radio signal.

In addition to using a repeater, there is another way to establish mobile communications, namely to connect the street antenna directly to the subscriber’s device – for example, a fixed GSM phone, modem, or LTE router. In this connection, the antenna itself acts as a passive amplifier. The name comes from the fact that the antenna does not require electricity and is a completely passive element of the system.

Finally, there is a separate type of device – antenna amplifiers. These devices are similar to repeaters, but are designed for intermediate gain between the antenna and the final subscriber device. Today they are hardly ever used.

It is important to understand that neither a repeater nor an antenna is a self-sufficient solution for cellular and mobile Internet amplification. By itself, the repeater can not work without a connected antenna (outdoor and outdoor). Also, the outdoor antenna must be connected to some equipment, be it a repeater, 4G router, or modem. That’s why a signal amplifier is often understood as a complete set of equipment, which includes all the necessary components for quick installation.

What kind of amplification method to choose?

Each amplification method has its own characteristics. The repeater increases the power of all incoming radio waves in a certain frequency range, so you can get a stable connection over a large area with its help. The amplification occurs for all devices within the range of the distributing antenna, and users continue to use their SIM cards with the usual tariffs.

Nevertheless, repeaters have one significant disadvantage. It lies in the fact that the device increases the power of not only useful signals, but also noise and interference. This is not critical for voice communication, but in many cases, it is detrimental to the mobile Internet. That’s why for high-speed Internet out of town, we recommend kits with 4G routers or modems, which receive the “cleanest” signal directly from the street antenna. In this case, a separate SIM card is needed, and subscribers use the router’s Wi-Fi network to connect to the mobile Internet. Unfortunately, this method is ill-suited for public spaces and commercial premises, where it is necessary for visitors to access the Internet “as usual”, without additional procedures and tricks.
