Watch 40-Foot-Tall Cypress Trees Get Swallowed By A Sinkhole

When the salt dome operated by Texas Brine, LLC in Louisiana collapsed in the summer of 2013, it led to the creation of a massive underwater sinkhole that has caused an estimated $12 million worth of damage.

On August 2013, the power of the sinkhole was seen as the captivating video of it completely swallowing a stand of 40-foot cypress trees in a matter of seconds, was released for all the world to see.

 

Originally, the sinkhole (located near Bayou Corne, Louisiana) was only an acre in size. It has since grown from one to twenty eight acres and is estimated to be 750 feet deep.
