For years, choosing cat food often meant picking a familiar flavor and sticking with it. Today, the shelves look different. Chicken and fish sit alongside duck, rabbit, lamb, and less familiar proteins, while “rotation feeding” has become part of the conversation among pet owners.
There is a sensible reason protein gets so much attention: cats have unusually specific nutritional requirements. But variety itself isn’t a magic ingredient. A cat can do well on one properly formulated food, while a poorly planned rotation can create problems.
