Exam Questions for 8th Graders In 1912

This 8th grade test from way back in 1912 in Bullitt County, Kentucky, was recently discovered. A sort of “Common Exam,” students were expected to take this test at the end of the school year. According to Bullitt County’s website, this copy has been donated to the museum, who has been told that the exam was handed out in a scroll form, which explains why the paper is long.

The copy provides a fascinating insight on what 8th grade tests looked like a hundred years ago. A quick look at this exam and boy, am I grateful I didn’t have to go to school in 1912. Yes, this is one tough test. Go ahead, give it a shot. And um… *clears throat* No cheating please!
