The Science behind Kundalini

All yoga practitioners always speak of the kundalini. It’s the primal divine feminine energy that is believed to reside in the tail-end of your spine.

It’s supposed to be similar to the idea of a coiled serpent resting in there which once awakened could unleash a strike force of energy.

Many yogic experts warn people about this kundalini awakening. If this is done without the guidance of a guru, the results can apparently be catastrophic.

Almost every practice needs guidance and deep knowledge before you delve deep into it.

This is not just true for yogic practices but also for something as commercial as buying Bitcoin for betting sites.

There are sites dedicated to help you with that too. But unlike trading cryptocurrency, the effects of a kundalini awakening are not to be very dangerous for one’s mental and emotional health.

If your kundalini awakens when your chakras are not opened up, then there is great danger to your body and your mind.

But while many people believe in this, is there really any scientific reasoning behind this?

What is Kundalini?

According to Hindu philosophy, the body has seven chakras or energy points starting from the head all the way down to the end of the spine.

The Kundalini is believed to be located at the base of the spine and is a dormant force which has to be awakened.

In scientific terms, the powers that we feel while meditating are akin to electromagnetic waves. Some people also called it aura.

During Kundalini Awakening, the practice allows for these kinds of electromagnetic waves to be generated at the base of the spine. This energy then travels across the nervous system.

What is the explanation for this energy?

While kundalini is a concept that has been part of Eastern philosophy for many centuries, it is only in recent times that science has shown interest in this.

The concept of energy can be explained by the idea that blood that flows through veins produces some form of static current.

This may be a very low current but in situations where one can control the flow like in agitated states of emotions, then this electricity can be increased.

This is a very basic understanding of the energy that our body produces. It is also very important to understand that energy can not be destroyed. It can only change from one form to another.

What is the third eye?

The final stage of kundalini awakening is said to be the opening of the third eye which gives you spiritual powers and a heightened sense of consciousness.

The energy that you release from the end of your spine travels up through the various chakras and finally reaches the third eye.

Science now reveals that the third eye in Hindu mysticism is in all probability the pituitary gland in your brain.

This is the gland that produces DMT – the psychedelic that gives visions. You can read more about it here. It is believed that the brain releases DMT usually under major stress like when someone is about to die.

This explains why some people report seeing their lives flash before their eyes. While the idea of Kundalini Awakening might come across as interesting, one has to be extremely careful and know all the potential side effects.

It is imperative to gain as much knowledge and perhaps even take the guidance of a guru to embark on this journey.
